Your Turn

Just you wait, your turn will come
When your plastic world be all undone
As your daughter cuts her skin with a blade
Unable to live up to expectations you made
Will your sanctimony be as vulgar then?

Your cocoon of bubble wrap is no protection
In a real world of imperfection
Shoulders will shrug when you question your luck
Wailing in arms comforted by their charms
Will you understand the position you're in?

When your husband finds comfort in a strange way
Or another child escapes by shooting their veins
When you've bought all that can possibly be sold
Only to find yourself with your thoughts alone
Will you decipher the language of your mind's din?

Wolf In Shepherd's Clothing

At the altar you stand on a pedestal so tall
Quoting scripture from a book to follow must all
Invade new territory to preach your gall
Forcing ancient peoples with peril to submit and crawl
Claiming you come in peace

Amass your riches and covet thy gold
Storing untold wealth in your treasure trove
Pleading poverty as you stretch an arm for more
Your bank like your collar act the whore
To the flock you intend to fleece

Little boys and girls are placed in your care
Their innocence stolen from the comfort of your lair
To speak of this they must not dare
Or else eternal damnation shall be theirs
As you push them to your knees

Standing watch adorned in mystical cloaks
You preside over minions their life is sworn
Investing their trust in the words of your tome
Never seeing the predator nor his mouth of foam
In his sparkling eyes they must believe

Where I Am

You can let everybody down just so many times
But you can let yourself down one more time than that
And that's where I am. Where are you?

The life of a gypsy is fun only if you don't have to be one
Otherwise you are nothing but a nomadic statistic
And that is where I am. Where are you?

There is no way to express your circumstance
To one who has walked on cushioned soles
And that is where I am.

The chill of the night time air drills to the bone
When the warmth of a cherished friendship burns
And that is where I am.

When you're at that point where all decisions converge
When you think you can only go up
And the bottom opens to reveal the abyss
Falling uncontrollably grasping at air
Giving everything yet having none
This is where I am right now.
