The Price I Pay For This

Shoes soaking wet standing in the rain
Waiting for someone who is willing to pay
For what I got

Eyes meeting eyes giving him the look
Barely clothed and cold so he can see the goods
He knows what he wants

Lonely, bored, deprived I seen them all
Heard all the stories, none I can recall
Don’t give them a thought

I shiver inside and my soul is dead
There’s nothing I haven’t ever done yet
The cost to you tonight for a tryst
Is nothing compared to the price I pay for this

I did as you asked, took it all in stride
Never let you know the way I felt inside
Indulging your filth

Go home with a smile, return to your life
Drop me over here so I can shed a tear
And score another hit

I shiver inside and my soul is dead
There’s nothing I haven’t ever done yet
The cost to you tonight for a tryst
Is nothing compared to the price I pay for this.

I, A Centurion

Like the rain that falls on my parade
Unapologetic I remain
Shining a light on hearts I disdain

A quill and ink they disregard
I, a centurion willingly stand guard
Over freedoms they readily discard

While the doctors spin a distracting tale
I, a centurion rush to cast the veil
Exposing the well-worn money trail.

Higher

I miss the touch of your skin as you cozy up to mine
I can smell your perfume on the pillow it makes me smile
The room feels so empty without you by my side
We haven’t been apart like this in a long, long while

I don’t know if you’re feeling alone as I do right now
It’s times like these when I struggle to keep from feeling down
I know it’s a temporary thing we’ll get through it somehow
But that doesn’t mean I have to like this feeling anyhow

When we’re apart it breaks my heart I just want to squeeze you tight
When you’re near it’s so clear you are the stuff of life
There’s nobody else for me, I soar higher than I can believe
Higher than a mountain top, higher than anyone could have thought
Higher, higher, higher, baby you take me higher

I can hardly wait for this time to pass along
A special welcome home is planned with candles, wine and song
We can rip our clothes off and tear up the sheets all night long
We’ll be finally back together where we belong
